Post a single sentence or more from each wip you have, or from as many wips as you want. Provide no context/explanations.

***

It's something. Nothing, really. Existing in that fragile space somewhere between "something" and "nothing". Them. Not happening, but not not happening either. Just hanging around, like an elephant in the room. But not. If it was, Brendon would try his hardest to point it out, amping up the awkwardness until it all goes away. But this. This he ignores. It sits, waiting, until it all explodes, in a tangled mess of shouted emotions and festering secrets.

***

It's not until after the door shuts behind her that he lets himself fold into a ball, wrapping his arms around himself tightly as if they can keep his heart from finally breaking.

***

She leans forward, eyes bright. "And what about... Did it have anything to do with...?" she asks tentatively, as if she's afraid to say it. Whatever it is.

"What?" Ryan asks. What could she be this scared of bringing up?

"Brendon?" It's little more than a whisper, as if she's breached some sacred taboo. And in a strange way, she has.

Ryan breathes out. "Brendon." In the year it's been, he hasn't said his name more than once, twice. But it flows from his lips as easily as ever. As easily as those first few sessions, tinged with exasperation and laughter. As easily as those first few nights on stage, murmured asides and shouted jokes. As easily as those first few times, choked and stuttered out in a flood of lust and sensation.

He speaks carefully, repeating phrases Jon as fed him in preparation for these questions. "He was definitely a part of it. Everyone was. I mean, no one was more at fault than the others." Which he knows is a lie, but to go in to that, to explain the circumstances, is not what he wants to do right now.

"But were there any special issues with Brendon? Ones that you didn't have with the other band members?" She's really pushing now, wanting to hear him say it. Say Yes, I was fucking Brendon Urie. The whole world seems to want him to.

And for the first time, he does. "Brendon and I had a — a thing. I guess that's what you could call it." He's not quite sure how to articulate it, this thing they had. For a lyricist, someone with a way with words, they've always failed him here. "It was... complicated."

She leans back, settling into her chair. "Tell me."

And so he does.

***

When the lights go out, Frank has no idea what he's expecting. The Artiste. Maybe she dances really fucking gracefully or something? Whatever.

Then this "artiste" steps out, and fuck. It's all smooth, smooth lines, pale and creamy, and dark, dark hair, and thin, flat chest, and.

Flat.

Well, whatever he was expecting, this sure as fuck wasn't it.

***

Frank realises, then, that he has no idea who this guy fucking is. He turns his face towards, and pushes his hair off his face. Paler skin, somehow, than the rest of his body, and long, dark lashes, and smooth lips, curved peacefully but for the blood smeared across them. "Fuck," he whispers. He's beautiful. Not like that, sexually, but almost angelically. But he shakes his head, shakes off the thoughts. He's got a girlfriend now. He's not gonna do the gay thing again. But holy fuck, this guy's gorgeous.

He decides to take him to Jamia's hospital. She should be able to patch him up. Bending down, he puts a hand under each arm. All of a sudden, this guy's full body comes into view, out of the surf, and Frank stumbles backwards, dropping him as he falls.

Because those aren't legs. Not even close. Those are scales, blacker than black, and holy fuck that's a fin. Motherfucking flying fuck that's a tail, a black tail. He's a motherfucking mermaid.

***

"He's... a mermaid?" Frank asks cautiously. Because really, is there any other way to say it?

Ryan laughs. "Oh really? Wouldn't he be a merman then, Frank?"

Right. Merman. But, that's such a stupid word.

"That's such a stupid word, though."

"Well, what would you prefer, mer-male?"

Brendon giggles. "Y'know, dude, I think that may sound even stupider. If that's even possible."

"Well, what would you propose?"

He shrugs, looking up towards the ceiling. "I don't know, how about... Mer-masculine?"

Ryan cracks at that, laughing so hard he bends in two, and Frank just falls apart as well, laughing as Brendon stand there, all mock-serious and stifled giggles.

"Okay, I think I'm gonna stick with guy mermaid for now," Frank says, finally calming down.

Reply with 'FISHSTICKS!!!' and I’ll give you four fandoms. You then have to make an entry writing about your favorite character from each fandom and why.

[livejournal.com profile] overheads gave me Ace Attorney, House, Death Note, and Inception. :D

Ace Attorney: This is tricky... There's so many interesting and complex characters, like Lang, Ini, Dahlia, Klavier, and Matt... I'm gonne be predictable here and say Miles Edgeworth. Not just because he's extremely good-looking, or because his game is one of the best ones, but because he's such an interesting character, and it's really fun to watch him grow from cute little justice-loving kid to stuck-up sexy Bratworth to stuck-up walled-off adult to mature and more vulnerable adult. Also, he's is totally closeted for Phoenix.

House: Wilson, easily. I love how he's such an enabler for House, but seems to want what's best for him, as well. And their banter together is one of the best parts of the show. They're one of the few couples where I not only want them to get together, but legitimately think they were intended to. Also, I am a complete fangirl for Robert Sean Leonard. XD

Death Note: Mello. off the top of my head, he's incredibly sexy. But deeper down, he seems like a very complicated person. Think about it. All his life, he's been trying to become the best he can, so that he can finally become what he'd always wanted (the new L), but it's never been enough. It must destroy him inside to never quite measure up, which is why, when he had his dreams utterly and completely dashed, he left. he had nothing else to stay for, because that was the one thing he'd been there for. And then, at the end, it seems like he knew he would die if he kidnapped Takada. But he did it anyways, because could tell that it was the only way to defeat Kira, showing just how intelligent he is, and how noble. And him with Matt, they clearly are not open people, so the fact that they each care about each other so much shows just how close they really are, romantically or not. Also, I have to give Mello massive props for his somehow joining the Mafia and become a total BAMF (with the world's best wardrobe). ♥

Inception: A tie between Arthur, Eames, and Robert. So I'll just explain all three. Arthur seems like he not just wants control, but needs it. I feel like something's happened in his past which had him in a situation in which he felt like he had no control, so he reacted by controlling everything possible in his life. Also, he's a complete badass GQMF. And Eames... God, Eames is just so charismatic, and he's a total badass in their job, but not in the same way as Arthur, in a much more sensual way (that blonde was HOT). And I feel like he's been in love with Arthur for forever, but something happened in the past (a one-night stand? A drunken... thing? A failed relationship?) which drove them apart, and they were both hurt by it, but while Arthur reacted by shutting himself inside, and coming off as cold to Eames, Eames reacted by pushing down the feelings so he could stay as close to him as possible, even though nothing could come of it, because he wanted to be near him. And the flirting is just his way of showing his feelings without having to get serious about things, because then he could be hurt. Robert, he seems like such a complicated character, for which I have to give major kudos to Cillian Murphy for portraying him so well. He seems like all his life, he's never been allowed to be who he wants to be; he's had his life controlled by his father, and he's never had a chance to be himself. This is why the inception actually feels like it made his life better, rather than destroying it.

01/30: List all the Pixar movies you’ve seen

02/30: Your favorite Pixar movie

For some reason, my favorite is the sweet-and-simple A Bug's Life. It's so cute, but it also manages to carry that "be yourself" message incredibly well. And the bugs are adorable.

Day 01- The best movie you saw during the last year
Day 02 - The most underrated movie

Day 03 - A movie that makes you really happy

10 Things I Hate About You. Watching this movie brings out the JGL fangirl hopeless romantic in me, and I always get that warm, fuzzy feeling. I especially love Heath Ledger's singing scene. :)

Day 1 – Favorite Album
Day 2 – Favorite Song Without an Album
Day 3 – Favorite Song From Bullets

Day 4 – Favorite Song From Revenge

Definitely To The End. Although I love so many songs on this album, the ghoulish punk-vaudeville feel of this one pushes it over the edge, and I adore it. Also, it has such a fabulous chorus.

Day 03 - A song that makes you happy
Day 04 - A song that makes you sad
Day 05 - A song that reminds you of someone

Day 06 - A song that reminds of you of somewhere

Still another camp memory... At the closing fire, we always sing Wildwood Road, a version of Take Me Home, Country Roads by John Denver. As such, I always think of camp when I hear this song, or even the original.

Day 02 - The most underrated movie

I'm not sure if this movie is underrated, per se, but it's certainly under-known. Once, the 2007 movie about two musicians, captures romance in such a beautiful, heartbreakingly real way, and the music is gorgeous. I really wish more people knew about it and watched it. (Also, it may be one of the few movies in which I'm glad Cillian Murphy wasn't cast.)

Day 2 – Favorite Song Without an Album

Day 3 – Favorite Song From Bullets

Headfirst for Halos. It's such a powerful song, and I love how strong it is, how rough-edged, and I especially love the message MCR sends with it. Because nothing is ever that bad.

Day 05 - A song that reminds you of someone

Another camp memory. Well, last year, this counselor whom I had a thing for performed this song with his sisters, so I always think of him when I hear this song (Swing Life Away by Rise Against):

Day 01- the best movie you saw during the last year

Easily Lars and the Real Girl. To quickly sum it up, it's a movie about a social-phobic guy in a small town who falls in love will a sex doll. But it's not creepy. This comes nowhere near describing this movie, however. It's a great reflection on love and friendship and family. And the acting is amazing. Ah, I love indie movies... Here, check out the trailer:

Day 01 - Your favorite song
Day 02 - Your least favorite song
Day 03 - A song that makes you happy

Day 04 - A song that makes you sad

Well, I'm saving another song for later, (sorry TRJA!), but this also easily goes to Circle Game by Joni Mitchell. First off, the song itself is a very melancholy journey through growing up and life, but also, it's one of the last songs we sing at my summer camp, at the closing bonfire. These two combined make it especially sad for me this year, as I'm starting to realize that many of my favorite counselors won't be there, that they're growing up and moving on, and that everyone has to do that sometimes, has to give up things, no matter how much they love them, because it's time. So I always feel sad after hearing this song.

Day 01 - Favorite Album

Day 01 - Favorite Song Without an Album

I've always loved Heaven Help Us, for some reason. It's so melodic, and feels so aching, somehow. Here, have a listen:

kasuchans: (Default)
Day 1 – Favorite Album

Easily Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge. I mean, I love Bullets, but it feels kinda unpolished, and Black Parade, while having my favorite song, also has my least favorite songs, and it feels a bit too polished. But this one is the perfect mix of gritty punk and "emo"pop. And it has the sickest cover art, courtesy of Gerard. (Click the album to listen!)

Day 01 - Your favorite song
Day 02 - Your least favorite song

Day 03 - A song that makes you happy

Once again, a (500) Days of Summer reference. This time, it's You Make My Dreams, by Hall & Oates. Not only is the song itself incredibly infectious, but, having seen the movie scene, every time I hear this song I want to launch into cute, happy dancing. (Clip below for reference.)

kasuchans: (Default)
Day 01 - Your favorite song

Day 02 - Your least favorite song

Ur So Gay, by Katy Perry. If you thought I Kissed A Girl was homophobic, wait until you hear this one! In the music video, she manages to mock MySpace culture, emo kids, gay people, AND sing terribly! In the lyrics... Ugh.

kasuchans: (Default)
As all of you should know, if there's a meme bandwagon to be had, I will jump on it. So, without further ado:

Day 01 - Your favorite song

I'd have to say that, for all I love bandom, my absolute favorite song has to be Us, by Regina Spektor. Yeah, I know, I heard it through (500) Days Of Summer, but I fell in love with this song. I'm even going to use it for an audition for a musical in the spring. She really encompasses all that I love about indie pop.
